The method involves executing a new order of printing based on relevant color data, number of colors and printing sequence of the colors. The relevant color data is compared with a current color allocation data of printing components at a printing machine. The color allocation of printing components is adapted to the new order of printing, if a printing sequence of the colors of the new order of printing varies after the comparison. An independent claim is also included for a controller for controlling a color input for a printing machine.
