<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of reading the color and texture of an object to be imaged, without making the installation space larger in the vertical direction, even with a single light source. <P>SOLUTION: By changing a position and direction of a moving mirror 115 which reflects light rays from a linear light source 111, the adjustment of an incident angle on the object C to be imaged to an arbitrary value is made possible even for the single light source. The direction of the moving mirror 115 is changed in this case, and if the moving mirror 115 exists in a predetermined position, the position of the moving mirror 115 is changed, in such a manner that the light reflected by a reflection surface thereof irradiates the specified position of the object C. Since the moving direction of the moving mirror 115 is the horizontal direction (secondary scanning direction), there is no need for largely occupying the installation space in the vertical direction of the apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
