PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an information providing method capable of providing information to a vehicle or an occupant positioned at a location where no road information board or no roadside communication terminal is provided.SOLUTION: The information providing system includes: a reception unit; and a transmission unit. The reception unit receives a piece of positional information which represents a position of the vehicle and a piece of information of traffic lane which represents the traffic lane on which the vehicle is travelling from an apparatus portable on the vehicle. The transmission unit transmits a piece of information to the vehicle, which is provided for local area in the traffic lanes in the road which is divided into plural segments, and which includes the position represented by the received positional information and the traffic lane represented by the information of traffic lane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
