PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition which has low viscosity and is excellent in moldability, workability and storage stability, is excellent in heat resistance and insulating properties when cured, and is formed into a cured product suitable for an electric and electronic material.SOLUTION: There are provided a nitrogen-containing epoxy resin which is represented by general formula (1), has a molecular weight of 380 or less, and has an epoxy equivalent of 0.9 times or more and 1.5 times or less a theoretical value; an epoxy resin composition containing the nitrogen-containing epoxy resin; a cured product formed by subjecting the epoxy resin composition to curing reaction; an electric and electronic material having the cured product; and a method for producing the nitrogen-containing epoxy resin.
