PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium forming a thermally transferred printed image as a mat image and especially extremely advantageous when said image is a bar code. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium is formed by laminating a non-transfer mat layer 2 and a thermal transfer ink layer 3 to a support 3 and the ink layer 3 contains wax wherein penetration at 25 deg.C is 3 or less and elongation is pref. 1.5% or less at 40 deg.C and 35% or less at 60 deg.C, especially desirably, carnauba wax. When the ink layer 3 is thermally transferred to receiving paper 7, a sharp mat transfer image improved in the sharpness of the boundary surface of an image part and a non-image part is obtained. |
