A temporary connection for a domestic water supply has a pipe section (2) with screw fittings at each end to fit into the water supply pipe in place of the water meter. The pipe section has a blocking wall (12) in the centre to form inlet and outlet sections (14,15) which are bridged by a shunt comprising a pipe loop, a control valve (28), a meter (24) and a non return valve. The inlet section is also fitted with at least two tappings (30,31) for supplying other consumers eg. other buildings. The tappings are fitted with non return valves and with optional control valves.
