On the receiver side, block and bit error rate of the transmitted single-packet data is determined and from these a directionality factor is determined. This factor is sent back to the transmitting side , where it is used to adjust the data transmission security and to alter the redundancy of the error correction coding, in correspondence with the channel quality.
