An assembly jig for the preparation of furniture carcasses has a vertical support (101) with a positioning arm with vertical and horizontal movement. The arm is fitted with an adjustable grip which holds one side (112) of the carcass and pushes it onto the assembled carcass, providing a vertical support for the upright sections. The carcass is assembled by one operator ad the grips are powered by servo rams and springs. The vertical supports can hold several assembly jigs and is part of an assembly line.
