A signal generator (10) and a synchronous measurement unit (100) are connected to the transmission path (20) that has a coupled video camera (30) and a microphone (40). Video output is to a monitor (90) and audio output to a loudspeaker (80).The video and optical pulses are sent with a value below a set threshold level and the propagation time is determined.
