The invention relates to a method for digital protection of cinematographic works involving the following steps: preparing a compressed digital file on the basis of an original cinematographic work; encrypting said file and copying the latter and assigning passwords relating to at least said file and the apparatus authorized for reproducing the latter; transferring the encrypted file to the reproduction step; reproducing and showing the cinematographic work.
