<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for removing a pollutant using plants wherein management and maintenance work such as operation in planting plants for removing the pollutant, replacement of plants, and cleaning operation of sludge adhering to roots of plants are easily performed. <P>SOLUTION: In the method and apparatus for removing the pollutant using plants, when the pollutant is removed from pollutant-containing water using ecosystem cleaning effect of plants, a plurality of porous containers wherein fillers are filled to form a filter bed inside is are prepared. The plants are separated into one piece or several pieces to be planted on the filter bed of the respective porous container, thereby making plant module. A plurality of plant modules are arranged in a given pattern, and pollutant-containing water is passed through the respective filter bed.
