PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array system, a disk array device, and a power supply control method for the disk array device preventing failure of a spare disk, at the same time as the failure of data disk, and preventing deterioration in the reliability of the disk array device. SOLUTION: A hot standby state is provided by turning on power of only one spare disk 30-2 of two or more spare disks 30-1 to 30-3, power supplies are turned off into shutdown states, in the remaining spare disk devices 30-1 and 30-3, and power supply states of the spare disk devices 30-1 to 30-3 are rotated at certain periods.
