<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state light source that includes a semiconductor light source for emitting light and an optical system having an optical element, wherein the optical system has an input for receiving light emitted from the semiconductor light source and also an output for emitting light received from the optical element, and wherein the optical system and the semiconductor light source in aggregate provide light for forming an illumination path. <P>SOLUTION: The solid-state light source is equipped with an LED 401 as the semiconductor light source for emitting light and the optical system having an optical fiber bundle 406. The optical fiber bundle is inserted on the surface of the LED or its proximity and fixed to a plastic frame 412 by an epoxy sealant 14. The optical fiber bundle has the input for receiving light emitted from the semiconductor light source. In addition, the optical fiber bundle also has the output for emitting light received from the solid-state light source.
