摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enhance the book-binding efficiency by diverging a transport path into a plurality of branch paths situated over and below, allowing a sheet carried in to the lower stage path to be in standby temporarily in the period while the sheet undergoes specified post-processing and is discharged from upon a post-processing plate, and permitting it to fall off together with the sheet situated on the upper stage. CONSTITUTION:A sheet post-processing device 40 is equipped with a post- processing means 45 to put sheets transported from the body of a copying machine in alignment and subject to the book-binding process using a stapler 49, wherein the post-processing transport path 41 is on the way diverged into two branches to form a bypass 41b and main bus 41c situated over and below, and a deflector 44 is installed at the branch point. To perform book-binding for a plurality of volumes, the first sheet of the second volume is transported to the main bus 41c and kept in standby while the first volume sheets S are subjected to the book-binding process on a staple plate 46, and the second sheet is transported to the bypass 41b, and the first sheet is discharged at the timing of the second sheet being exhausted, and thus time loss in book-binding is suppressed.</p>
