PURPOSE:To prepare dot pattern data for fancy characters that can be made without regard to sizes of the characters and can be intensified moderately while keeping the quality. CONSTITUTION:In preparation of fringed fancy characters, a first modification pattern made by superimposing a pattern made by shifting an original.character pattern toward the right and the left respectively by one dot on the original character pattern, and a second modification pattern made by superimposing a pattern made by shifting the original character pattern toward the upside and the downside respectively by one dot on the first modification pattern are obtained (S82, S83). When the character size belongs to a first character size grade (S84: Yes), a fringing pattern data are made (S85) by eliminating the original character pattern from the second modification pattern. When the character size belongs to a second character size grade (S84: No), a third modification pattern made by superimposing a pattern made by shifting the original character pattern toward the upside and downside and toward the right and the left respectively by two dots on the second modification pattern is obtained (S88), and a fringing pattern data is made (S89) by eliminating the original character pattern from the third modification pattern. |
