An alphabet input apparatus in a keypad and a method thereof are provided to maintain a simple keypad by inputting various symbols in a concealed control processing method. A keypad, installed at the side of a client, comprises a plurality of numeric buttons. All or part of the numeric buttons correspond to one or more alphabets. A server comprises indexes for words and simple codes, or keypad button values corresponding to partial alphabets forming words. The words and simple codes stored in the indexes are grouped into a plurality of groups. If an input value, received from the keypad, is transmitted to the server, the server limits only some of the groups in the indexes, compares the transmitted input value with stored simple codes, and parses the input value. |
