PREVENTION OF BONE ABSORPTION

PURPOSE: To provide the medicine which contains a xanthineoxidase inhibitory substance and is useful for the diseases occurring in the excess bone resorption including osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: The compd. of formula (X is S, O, methyl subtd. N; R is H, amino, 1 to 3C alkylamino, hydroxy; R<1> is hydroxy, OM; M is nontoxic cation; R<2> , R<3> are H, halogen, 1 to 3C alkyl, trifluoromethyl, 1 to 3C alkoxyl); for example, 3-(3-triflumethylphenyl)-4-aminoisothiazole-5-carboxylic acid are incorporated as essential components into this medicine. The medicine is useful for the prevention and treatment of the excessive bone resorption related with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, loosening of artificial orthesis, periodontal diseases, tumors or Paget's diseases. The excessive bone resorption may be reversed and the bones are accumulated again and are eventually approached to the bones of the original intensity. The dose is 0.1 to 100 mg/kg/day.
