PURPOSE:To provide a clear image, interpolate the boundary between picture elements to an optimum smoothness, and provide an image of high quality by controlling the transmittance of a parallel ray outputted from a lighting means by a light bulb, outputting the ray controlled in transmittance in such a manner as to be capable of refracting by a minute refracting means, and scattering the ray outputted from the minute refracting means by a mixing means. CONSTITUTION:A parallel ray 6 emitted from a lighting means 1 is passed through a light bulb 3 for controlling the transmittance every picture element. The ray emitted from the light bulb 3 is refracted by use of a minute refracting means 4. Namely, the minute refracting means 4 projects the ray within the same range on a scattering means 7 to compensate the display impossible part in the boundary between the picture elements. The scattering means 7 scatters the ray projected from the minute refracting means 44. Thus, the deterioration of the image quality when enlarged can be suppressed. By changing the characteristic of the minute refracting means 4, the intensity distribution of the ray on the scattering means 7 can be controlled, and the degree of freedom in design can be significantly improved. |
