PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium excellent in the lightfastness and the recording/reproducing characteristics for the light having wavelength of 680 nm or less and exhibiting a sufficient solubility to a coating solvent which does not corrode a polycarbonate substrate. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium having a recording and/or reproducing wavelength of 680 nm or less has a recording layer containing an azo dye shown by a formula (where Q1 represents an atomic group for forming an aromatic ring of 5 or 6 members which may have a fused ring, Q2 represents an atomic group for forming an aromatic ring which may have a fused ring, R1 represents an alkyl group, and X<-> represents a pair anion) wherein the complex refractive index at 635 nm has a real part (n) of 2.0-2.8 and an imaginary part (k) of 0.4 or less. |
