PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet ink compsn. which has a low surface tension and an improved wetting properties by compounding a water-base carrier medium. a colorant, and a surfactant mixture comprising specified amts. of a siloxane surfactant and a fluorinated surfactant and by specifying the siloxane content. SOLUTION: Pref., the water-base carrier medium is a mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. diethylene glycol). The colorant is a dye or pigment dispersion. The surfactant mixture is contained in an am. of 2.5-6 wt.% of the ink compsn. and comprises at least one fluorinated surfactant of formula I: [R(f)Q]n A wherein R(f) is 6-22C perfluoroalkyl; Q is a divalent linking group; A is a water-soluble group; and n is 1 or 2} and at least one siloxane surfactant. The siloxane content is 15-75 wt.% of the total amt. of surfactants, and, for example, a polyester-modified siloxane of formula II (wherein R' is methyl; R'' is a hydrocarbon chain; and R1 is H or methyl) is contained. |
