PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set with a directory transmitting function in which the operation of a telephone set is easy for storing a telephone number as a directory even at the time of dialing a telephone number whose use frequency is low, or at the time of an incoming call from an undesired caller. SOLUTION: A telephone number transmitted from a communication network at the time of an incoming and a telephone number dialed 1 at the time of calling are temporarily stored in a temporary storing means 6, and the number of times of the reception of this telephone number is counted as the number of times of calls and incoming calls by a counting means 7. Whether or not this number is beyond a preliminarily decided number of times in a preliminarily decided constant time is checked by an automatic retrieving means 10, and when it is beyond preliminarily decided constant number of times, whether or not this telephone number is still stored in a directory storing means 9 is retrieved, and when this telephone number is not stored, whether or not this telephone number should be stored is inquired to a user by a directory storage control means 11, and when the user desires the storage of this telephone number, this telephone number is stored in the directory storing means.
