Cutting plate (10) for mounting in a cutting tool for cutting cast material, especially cast iron, comprises a cutting plate upper side (13), a first cavity (11) for mounting in the cutting tool, and a cutting edge for processing by chip removal. A second cavity (12) is arranged coaxially to the first cavity. The first cavity is deeper than the second cavity and both cavities are deeper than the cutting plate upper side. An Independent claim is also included for a cutting tool for using with the above cutting plate. Preferred Features: The cutting plate is made of ceramic and is an indexable insert. |
