<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet manufacturing method and a transfer method that exhibits a good production efficiency and does not damage the quality of a transfer image. <P>SOLUTION: In a transfer sheet 10, two pairs in which transfer areas 12Y, 12M and 12C of a plurality of different colors are arranged on a fixed repetition basis are alternately formed, and a sensing mark 13 is formed in each of the transfer area, and different marks 13a and 13b are given to each of the pairs. A plurality of transfer layer printing drums 101, 102 and 103 in which the plate portions of the different transfer areas are multiply attached print two pairs of each of the transfer areas 12Y, 12M and 12C, two pairs of the different sensing marks 13a and 13b are printed by one sensing mark printing drum 104.
