<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition for stimulating or inhibiting angiogenesis and/or cardiovascularization in a mammal, and to provide a method for using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition is based on a polypeptide which is identified for one or more uses thereof or an antagonist thereto. Disease is diagnosed, prevented, or treated by the composition, wherein the disease includes trauma, such as a wound, cancer of various kinds, and vascular disease including atherosclerosis and cardiomegaly. Further, a new peptide and a nucleic acid molecule encoding the polypeptide are provided in the specification, respectively.
