<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that although a transmission distance of up to 550 m is recently demanded, some of modes of incident light are dispersed at a transmission distance of 550 m on 10-gigabit Ethernet (R) and various signals interfere with one another, so that a photodetector cannot detect an exact signal. <P>SOLUTION: A mode conditioner using a patch cord which has a joined portion where one end of a single-mode optical fiber and one end of a multi-mode optical fiber are fused and spliced and also has an optical connector at the other end of each optical fiber is characterized in that the center positions of cores of the joined portion are made eccentric with each other and the cores fused and spliced, while having their central axes slanted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
