A disconnect apparatus for a gravity fed hopper for a paint spray pump including a valve automatically opening when the hopper outlet is attached to an inlet of the pump and closing when the hopper outlet is detached from the pump inlet. Means for wiping the interior of the outlet may be provided to remove material from the outlet as the hopper is separated from the pump.
