PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light emitting device having high efficiency, low voltage, high brightness and long operating life. SOLUTION: The organic light emitting device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a light emitting layer located between the first and second electrodes, and a hole injection layer located between the first electrode and the light emitting layer. The hole injection layer includes a first compound consisting of an element selected from the group of Mo, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and B, and an element selected from the group of O, F, S, Cl, Se, Br and I, and a second compound which is an organic compound for forming the hole injection layer. The materials of the hole injection layer are hole injection materials having excellent electric characteristics and suited for fluorescent and phosphorescent elements of red color, green color, white color and any other colors. Using such materials makes it possible to manufacture the organic light emitting device having high efficiency, low voltage, high brightness and long operating life. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
