The sewing machine (1) has a housing and stitch forming tools for seaming with a needle bar (9) that holds a sewing needle (10). A thread path setting unit has a projection element, which is arranged such that an upper thread runs between an upstream upper thread-guide component and a thread lever from a main-upper thread-guide plane. The main-upper thread-guide plane is defined by upstream upper thread-guide component. The projection element is displaced relative to the housing for providing an upper thread-path length between the upstream upper thread guide component and the thread lever. |
