The present invention relates to a variable valve device of an internal combustion engine, which comprises a cam base member (10), an elastic member (18), a cam lobe member (12), and a device for fixating the cam lobe member on the cam base member. The cam lobe member (12) includes a main cam unit (12d) and an extruded unit (12e) installed at a position different from the main cam unit. The cam lobe member is movable on the cam base member between a first position where the extruded unit (12e) protrudes from the cam base member and a second position where the main cam unit protrudes from the cam base member. The cam lobe member is pressurized toward the first position by the elastic member. The cam lobe member is movable toward the second position when the extruded unit is pressurized by a following member connected with an engine valve.
