PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser cut processing for laser cut processing of a workpiece with no peeling of a protection film and a laser beam machine.SOLUTION: A laser beam machining method for a workpiece having a protection film over the surface comprises a process for keeping a gap dimension between a nozzle 15 set in a laser processing head 7 and a workpiece W larger than a gap dimension during laser cutting of the workpiece, and for performing pierce processing with a gas pressure smaller than a gas pressure of an assist gas during the laser cutting, and a process for raising the gas pressure of the assist gas up to a suitable gas pressure for laser cut processing when the gap dimension between the nozzle 15 and the workpiece W becomes a suitable dimension for laser cut processing by approach action of the laser processing head 7 to the workpiece.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
