摘要 An adjustable rod for spinal corrective surgery is provided that includes a first elongate member and a second elongate member, each having rod portions couplable to one or more bone connecting elements and expansion portions slideably movable with respect to one another. A plurality of holes in each expansion portion are alignable with one another to choose the length of the adjustable rod and a locking element is inserted through a pair of aligned holes to couple the first and second elongate members and secure or fix the length of the expandable rod.

An adjustable rod assembly configured to straighten a spine, the adjustable rod assembly comprising: a bone connecting element configured to attach to a rib, the bone connecting element including a first portion and a second portion, the first portion configured to fit at least partially around the rib, the second portion including a first opening and a second opening that intersects the first opening, wherein the first opening extends along a direction into the bone connecting element and terminates within the bone connecting element at a base surface of the bone connecting element; a rod portion that is elongate along an axis, the rod portion configured to be inserted into the first opening such that the bone connecting element is rotatable with respect to the rod portion about the axis; and a locking element configured to be inserted into the second opening such that in a first configuration the bone connecting element is rotatable with respect to the rod portion about the axis, and in a second configuration the bone connecting element is secured to the rod portion such that rotation of the bone connecting element with respect to the rod portion about the axis is prevented.
