The invention concerns a sample container (1) for the digestion or analysis of sample material, in particular by heating the sample in a heating device, preferably a microwave oven. The container comprises a sample-containing part (2) with an opening for the introduction of the sample, a lid (3) to close off the sample-containing part (2) and a valve (5) in the upper region of the container (2).
