PURPOSE:To smoothly and certainly recover an emitting orifice impossible to emit ink by a simple emission recovery mechanism without requiring a large pump. CONSTITUTION:An emission recovery device 4 for ejecting ink out of the selected emitting orifices among a large number of emitting orifices is equipped with the contact member 3 so arranged as to face a recording head 1 and to be separable from the recording head 1 and extending in the direction of the arrangement of the emitting orifice of the recording head 1, the moving member 37 provided to the contact member 3 and capable of sliding or tumbling in the direction of the arrangement of the emitting orifice of the recording head 1 while pressing the contact member 3 and a moving means for reciprocally moving the movable member 37 in the emitting orifice arrangement direction.
