PURPOSE:To properly operate a capping mechanism under all use conditions at the time of non-printing without increasing the size of a printer by arranging a capping means to an ink jet cartridge and moving the same by a biasing means made of a shape memory alloy so as to open and close emitting nozzles. CONSTITUTION:The biasing means 41 made of a shape memory alloy attached to a capping means 38 and setting the capping means to a state capping emitting nozzles 28 within a first temp. range and setting the same to a state of opening the emitting nozzles 28 within a second temp. range and a heating means for heating the biasing means are provided. As a result, the capping mechanism arranged to an ink jet cartridge is properly operated under all use conditions at the time of non-printing without increasing the size of a printer and troubling the user, preventing failures of the nozzles such as clogging. Therefore, the ink jet cartridge handy to carry can be obtained. |
