DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING BETWEEN ROLLS WITH SIDE DAM

PURPOSE: To liquid-tightly hold with a thin metal product between a side dam and rolls continuously, to cast the thin metal product by dispersedly arranging thrust members to the region corresponding to the shape of the side dam between a thrust plate and a panel. CONSTITUTION: A chassis 5 is pressed with a casting production apparatus and a jack 9 is driven to bring the side dam 3 into contact with the end edge of the roll 1. The thrust plate 10 is moved by the motion, by which springs 14 of the thrust members are compressed and the position of the jack 9 is adjusted. The force exerted by the jack 9 is transmitted to the thrust plate 10 by a carriage 8 and a stopper 12. The force is dispersed by the springs 14 to the panel 19. The force locally applied by the respective springs 14 is nearly the function of the degree of compression of the springs 14 and is the function of the relative position between the panel 19 and the thrust plate 10. The side dam 3 is brought into abutment on the rolls 1 in the position of making the finest contact state in the prescribed position of the jack 9. The optimum contact is liquid-tightly obtained between the side dam 3 and the rolls 1.
