PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance biaxially oriented polyester film having a high strength and high heat of dissolution. SOLUTION: In a polyester film made of a resin mainly consisting of polyethylene terephthalate, the sum of F5 values (kg/mm<2> ) in both the longitudinal and lateral directions of the film is set to be 30 or more and its heat of dissolution is set to be 3.5(kcal/mol) or more.
