A sleeve member (18), which can move axially on a drive shaft (6) following a change in an inclination angle of a swash plate (11), is provided between a through hole (20) of the swash plate (11) and the drive shaft (6) in a variable displacement swash plate compressor. The through hole (20) has on an inner periphery thereof support portions (20a), which abut locally against the sleeve member (18) on a side opposite to a hinge mechanism (K) across an axis of the drive shaft (6), and supporting provided by the support portions (20a) allows an inclination angle of the swash plate (11) to change over a full control range, so that a range of relative sliding between the support portions (20a) formed on the inner periphery of the through hole (20) of the swash plate (11) and the sleeve member (18) is reduced to suppress abrasion of both the support portions (20a) and the sleeve member (18) to ensure a smooth action of changing of an inclination angle of the swash plate (11). Further, the through hole (20) of the swash plate (11) has an inner diameter surface (20b) which abuts on an outer peripheral surface of the sleeve member (18) to set a minimum inclination angle of the swash plate (11).
