<p>The disclosure relates to a combine ladder (25) with breakaway pivot (32) for an agricultural machine such as a combine (1). The ladder mounting structure comprises a pivot (30) with a transport pivot (31) and a ladder pivot (32). The transport pivot rotates about to the frame (21) and the ladder pivot rotates about the ladder head (26). A breakaway mechanism controls a detent plate (40) affixed to the ladder head (26). The breakaway mechanism comprises a breakaway housing (50) with a rod (51) biased by a spring (52). When the operator manipulates a handle (60), a hub (54) separates from a notch (41) in the detent plate (40). Likewise if a force (78) contacts the ladder (25), the spring (52) allows the hub to move from the notch (41). This permits the ladder (25) to rotate about the ladder pivot (32). If the operator manipulates the handle (60) in the opposite direction, a bolt (36) is removed from the transport plate (35) allowing the ladder to rotate about the transport pivot (31) to the transport position. <IMAGE></p> |
