METHOD OF REMELTING CHIPS AND OTHER DISPERSED WASTES OF METALS AND ALLOYS IN MEDIUM OF SOLID-LIQUID METAL

FIELD: foundry and nonferrous metallurgy; remelting of chips and other dispersed wastes of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: remelting is carried out in medium of solid-liquid metal. Liquid metal medium readily wets chips and protects them from oxidation and very well conducts heat to ensure rapid heating and melting of chips. Remelting includes melting of particles and lumps of dispersed wastes in layer of metal of similar chemical composition and differs in that chips and other dispersed wastes are introduced into solid-liquid metal after preliminary heating of wastes with heat of liquid metal in furnace to temperature within liquidus temperature of liquid metal to liquidus temperature of minus 20 C. The method is convenient and highly efficient in production process, needs no special equipment and may be realized in any foundry shop rather rapidly in 1-2 months.
