PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a copper alloy enhanced in resistance to crack caused by local plastic deformation. SOLUTION: A copper alloy, having a composition consisting essentially of, by weight, 0.7-3.5% nickel, 0.2-1% silicon, 0.05-1% tin, 0.26-1% iron, and the balance copper with inevitable impurities, is manufactured. The copper alloy has >0.7 local ductility index and >5% tensile elongation at 50.8 mm gage length. The whole or a part of iron can be replaced by cobalt at 1:1 by weight. This alloy has precipitation hardenability and is useful for electronic equipment including a connector (not restricted to it).
