PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excrete treating composition produced by improving the wettability of water-repelling wood flour having low water absorption, a method for producing a material for the treatment of excrete of a small animal by using the composition together with bentonite as main raw materials and an excrete treating material for small animal obtained by the production process. SOLUTION: The excrete treating material for small animal contains 50-70 mass% water-repellent organic substance, 10-50 mass% bentonite, 1-30 mass% binder and 1-10 mass% wettability improving agent.
