<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive polymer complex electrode catalyst as a non-platinum type electrode catalyst for a fuel cell excellent in oxidation/reduction catalytic activity and in durability. <P>SOLUTION: In the electrode catalyst comprising a catalyst component and a catalyst carrying material, the catalyst component contains a conductive polymer metal complex comprising a conductive polymer having repeating unit structure of at least one kind selected from the group comprising indole, isoindole, naphthopyrrole, pyrropyridine, benzimidazole, purine, carbazole, phenoxazine, and phenothiazine, and metal ions and the catalyst carrying material contains a conductor having porous structure.
