The built-up crankshaft for a four stroke Diesel engine has the components form or friction locked together. The contact geometry for the crankshaft components is such that the main bearings and crankpins overap in the radial direction of the crankshaft, so that the crank radius is smaller than the sum of the added radii of the main bearings and the crankpins. The crank can have three main components including a crankpin, a main bearing and a web.
