This invention relates to a chuck for machine tools, provided with a movable body which can be fixed to a chuck simply without the necessity of removing the chuck as a whole, and which is adapted to be moved in the direction parallel to a rotary shaft; a taper portion formed on this movable body; and a pressure contact member having a taper portion opposed to the taper portion on the movable body. These two paper portions pressure-contact each other and are deformed by the movement of the movable body, whereby a workpiece is gripped. This chuck is thus capable of gripping workpieces of different sizes. |
