PURPOSE:To provide a new compound having a broad antibacterial spectrum, giving powerful antibacterial activity on esp. Gram-positive bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, thus useful for e.g. infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R<1> is (protected) amino; R<2> is H, (substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, etc.; R<3> is (substituted) alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, etc.; R<4> is H, halogen, (protected) amino, hydroxyl, carboxyl, etc.; R<5> is (protected) carboxyl or carboxylate; A is CH, C-X (X is halogen) or N; >=is syn- or anti-isomer, etc.; n is 0 or 1], e.g. 7-[2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(Z)- methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-<7-{3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)thieno[2,3-b]- pyridinio}methyl->3-cephem-4carboxylate. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II (X is eliminable group) with a compound of formula III. |
