ANTIMICROBIAL RESIN, ITS PRODUCTION AND ANTIMICROBIAL FIBER STRUCTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial resin, having antimicrobial properties excellent in persistence and capable of safely and readily imparting antimicrobial properties to a fiber material without corroding a processing apparatus, a method for producing the antimicrobial resin and an antimicrobial fiber structure. CONSTITUTION:The antimicrobial resin is prepared by reacting a vinylic polymer or copolymer having a mono- or divalent phosphoric acid ester group with a tertiary amine, converting the phosphoric acid ester group into an amine salt, then reacting the resultant amine salt with a monovalent glycidyl compound and converting the amine salt into a quaternary ammonium salt. The resultant antimicrobial resin in an amount within the range of 0.2-3.0%owf is applied to a fiber material.
