A method of electrospark hardening of the surfaces of components consists in that a shielding element is used and hardening of the surfaces of components is accomplished. Shielding element is made in the form of sealed chamber, into which the cathode (component) and the anode (electrode) are placed, to which the voltage is supplied and maintained at a specific distance from the cathode (component)sufficient for emergence of electric spark discharge, the level of excess pressure in the chamber is controlled. Electrospark hardening is accomplished in the carbon-containing medium, the level of excess pressure of which is higher than ambient pressure.
