PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide-based high-temperature superconductor exhibiting excellent superconductive characteristics also in high magnetic field and to provide a method for producing the superconductor. CONSTITUTION:This superconductor is obtained by blending each oxide or each carbonate of Y, Ba and Cu with an oxide or a carbonate of impurity metal element A at a prescribed ratio, baking the blend to afford a balky formed article, heat-treating the formed article under a reduction atmosphere at 750-850 deg.C for 10-30 hr, heat-treating the formed article under oxidation atmosphere at 300-500 deg.C for >=5hr and annealing the formed article at <5 deg.C/min cooling rate. The superconductor is expressed by the general formula, YBa2(Cu1-xAx)3O7-y [(x) is 0.05-0.12] and has orthorhombic system. |
