<p>A device which is suitable for separating a substance into substantially solid matter and substantially liquid matter, which device comprises a cylindrical, apertured screen and an Archimedean screw forming a squeegee, which is capable of rotation with respect to said screen, by means of which the substance present on the screen is squeezed against and at least partially through the screen. The screen has a maximum thickness of 0.3 mm, and in that the openings in the screen have a maximum dimension of 0.3 mm, wherein the side of the screen remote from said Archimedean screw is supported near the ends, and wherein the portion extending between said ends is unsupported.</p> |
