<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mutual operability between the ABR protocol layer of ATM and a MAC protocol layer by monitoring upstream data traffic from active information equipment to a host digital terminal(HDT) connection while using a threshold value. SOLUTION: When the length of queue in an ATM-NI buffer storage unit 113 is smaller than a low threshold value, a regulator transmits cells at an initial value rate K (K>=1) with a MAC unit 112. While the length of queue is settled between the low threshold value and a high threshold value, the connection is provided in the descending order of priority levels with which an evident forward congestion notice(EFCN) parameter is not transmitted. Based on the reception conditions of EFCN in following frames, the selected regulator transmits cells to K frames one by one. When the length of queue is larger than the high threshold value, the regulator is instructed to stop transferring upstream data until the notice of transmission restart is received.</p> |
